Our Beginning
City Lumber Co. was purchased by Melvin Faircloth in 1969 after it was burned to the ground as a distraction during a store robbery. Melvin, who would later be named LAT Lumberman of the Year in 2010-2011, worked diligently with his family to get the lumberyard back in working order. The lumber yard has been thriving ever since. Former owner Melvin passed the lumberyard down to his two sons, and throughout the years, many family members have worked here. City Lumber Co. has become a local landmark in Abilene, TX due to our history and customer loyalty.
