City Lumber Co. was purchased by Melvin Faircloth (LAT Lumberman of the Year 2010-2011) in 1969. During this year, Melvin Faircloth purchased the lumberyard after it was burned to the ground as a distraction during a store robbery. He worked diligently with his family to get the lumberyard back in working order, and the lumber yard has been thriving ever since.
Former owner, Melvin, passed the lumberyard down to his two sons. Throughout the years, many family members have worked at the lumberyard. City Lumber Co. has become a local landmark in Abilene, TX due to their history and customer loyalty.
